When you begin to think about what you need to do for your tactical training, you need to consider a few things. The first thing is your mindset, then work on your skillsets, building up to establishing good tactics and applying your knowledge to select the best kit for you. We call this the Training Pyramid. The base is your mindset, with a proper mindset, you can accomplish many things. The second major item is getting organized with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that all family members know how to do. Work on your drills for different scenarios. When it comes to organizing your gear and supplies for any crisis event, you need to set up your levels of gear.
Kit Level - Break up your kit into levels if use. Your Level 1 kit should be your EDC, items that you always have on your person or very close by. Your Level 2 Kit will be the most complex and flexible of the levels. It is your GHB during your daily routines and your fighting chest rig during a crisis event. Your GHB should be adjusted to become your Go Bag / Bail Out Bag. Your Level 3 Kit will be your BOB, that is packed all the time and available for you to Bug Out on foot if need be. You can have a basic packing list that everyone in your family maintains the same and have additional items that you pack that would be mission essential. Your Level 4 Kit will be your last level. It should be several durable containers that you can load up in your vehicle, trailer with additional supplies to assist in your movement to your bug out location. It can be also be the extra fuel, water, food, tools, spare parts etc.
Always use the supplies form your highest level of kit first, so the lower levels will always have the items in the for when you have to break contact from an ambush or bug out on foot due to vehicles are non-operational.
